Experience the Taste of Khatling Glacier Trek with Auden Col Trek ::---->> For trek route maps and camping photographs email us.

Khatling glacier is a lateral glacier, at the source of river Bhilangana. According to legends a celestial nymph tried to lure Lord Shiva, while the almighty was at meditation. She was spurned by him and was dissolved into liquid form, thus originating the Bhilangana. Nature has bestowed her bounty on the vale of Bhilangana in abundance, and the rich pasture lands are ideal camping sites.

The Khalting Glacier is associated with the giant hanging glaciers of Ratangian, Jogin and Phating. The moraines on the sides of the glaciers look like standing walls of gravel and mud. A semi-frozen lake, called Bhil Sarovar, is the central point on one of the moraines. The flat land on these moraines and the Kunali bugyals are excellent pasture lands during the summer and rainy season.

We start our trek from a point a couple of kms ahead of Ghutu village and move up from here crossing beautiful forests, alpine meadows and some interesting villages with Hindu temples to reach Khatling cave. From here we walk to the zero point on the Khatling glacier to appreciate the beauty of high mountain terrain. From the glacier we cross over to the other side to reach Chowki, an absolute gem of a place. With meadows and Himalayan peaks all around itís great camping place and one can spend days here. From Chowki we ascend over a slightly tricky terrain to reach the high lake, Marsar Tal (4590m). En route we get a spectacular view of high mountains like Thalay Sagar, Jaonli, Kirti Stambh and Bharte Khunta rising above the Phatling glacier.

About Auden'c col ::  Aduen Pass Trek ::-->>
This little known mountain pass is named after J B Auden, who first crossed it back in 1939. It lies on the connecting ridge of Jogin I (6465 m) and Gangotri III (6580 m), and connects the pilgrim centers of Gangotri and Kedarnath. The trek starts along the Bhagirathi river and cuts up the Rudugaira nala (or stream) to the Rudugaira glacier, over the pass and down the crevassed Khatling glacier, and exit out along the Bhilganga river at Reeh.
